IHRAM’s Latest!

Queer Voices of the World

Stories, Poems, and Essays Responding to Worldwide LGBTQ+ Criminalization

published!

New York, NY: December 6, 2023
Bringing together authors from Uganda, Mexico, the Philippines, Nigeria, Bangladesh, South Africa and the United States, among others, this timely anthology gives voice to queer people facing a barrage of anti-LGBTQ+ legislation and bigotry worldwide. From Uganda's Anti-Homosexuality Act to Florida's Don't Say Gay law, governments everywhere have been drawing inspiration from each other as they target their own queer communities, all the while claiming that queerness is something foreign and invasive. The storytellers collected in this book come together to push back on those silencing efforts, insisting that their voices, at least, cannot be censored or erased.

Thorns, Tears and Treachery

a collection of poems, short stories and visual art around the Sudanese civil war

published!

New York, NY: October 23, 2023
In many ways, this anthology calls to mind John Pepper Clark’s poem titled “Casualties” published in 1970. The needless and senseless conflicts in Sudan have rendered all of us casualties. This project affords us the rare opportunity to metaphorically walk on the blood-soaked streets of Khartoum and the Darfur region to capture, prepare and present to our readers vivid episodes of the tragic violence, hostilities and unimaginable carnages that occur on daily basis across Sudan.
A unique feature that makes Thorns, Tears & Treachery worthy of note is in the fact that the writing is purely Pan-African. The works give a true reflection of the reality on ground, and are lavishly garnished in the finest flavors of the Continent's artistic soul.
